What was your first show with Spotlight?
Footloose (2011)
Why do you like performing in shows with Spotlight?
Yorba Linda Spotlight was the first theatre company I had preformed with and it quickly became my second home. The people there are so nice and caring. We are all one big happy, geeky family. The directors are so nice but also professional. Spotlight is just a place for performers to come together, make friends, have fun, and put on an amazing show. That's why I love it so much.
What is your dream role?
I think it would be a lot of fun to be Peggy Sawyer from 42nd Street.
Of the roles that you've played, what has been your favorite?
Lucy Van Pelt in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown.
Allison as the March Hare in Alice in Wonderland (2013) |
I have gotten all of my training from Spotlight. I have taken vocal lessons with them for around 5 years and the amazing staff still always has something more for me to learn. I also got all of my dance training from Spotlight and have improved immensely. Being in shows allows me to sing, dance, and act there at the same time and get feedback on my performances. Overall Spotlight has shaped me into the performer I am and I couldn't have done it without them.
What do you like to do when you're not performing?
When I'm not preforming I like to swim and do photography. My family and I also go on camping trips, hikes, and explore the US in out free time.
If you could choose a show for Spotlight to produce, what would it be and why?
I would want them to do Urinetown the Musical. Ever since I saw it, it has been my favorite musical. I think Spotlight could do something amazing with it.

Allison as Lucy Van Pelt in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (2014) |
As far as singing, dancing, acting wise, I believe singing is my strongest and dancing is my weakest. However, from an overall "traits a performer should have" point, I think my confidence and willingness to do what's wanted for a production is my strongest trait. My weakest point is that I can't automatically pick up dances and things like that. I have to go through it multiple times and really work it into my head before I can do it well. So if you struggle with that, you're not alone.
Of Spotlight's past shows, which has been your favorite and why?
You're a Good Man Charlie Brown was probably my favorite show I have done with Spotlight. It was such a good show and all the people in it were so happy and nice. That's what really makes the show and role my favorite. I met so many new people and gained new friends. I remember always having and good time and spending a ton of time with my double. I would go backstage and all the kids would be having fun, singing, and smiling. It made it a really memorable show.
